Folio. 166pp. Original pictorial boards with white lettering, housed in plain cardboard slipcase with printed Templeton drawing printed to covers. Same title as Mike Mills' 2000 documentary film featuring Ed Templeton and his wife Deanna. Autobiographical work combining Templeton's photographs, paintings, drawings and texts. Signed with an original small drawing by Templeton, in sharpie at the bottom of the front endpaper. Also includes a signed and numbered original color photograph, laid in (#7 of 200).

Templeton himself was a professional skateboarder and founder of the skateboard company Toy Machine, based in Huntington Beach, California. Templeton is also regarded as a influential photographer and artist and gained his reputation despite the fact that he had no formal training. Templeton's photography book "Teenage Smokers" won the Italian Search For Art competition, his artwork was featured in Juxtapoz magazine and in 2002 his work was featured in the exhibition "The Essential Disturbance" at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. Deformer represents the culmination of eleven years of work and research exploring Orange County, the area he spent his formative years, combing Templeton's work in the artistic fields mentioned above.
