A scarce sales catalog of Art Nouveau era designs for wall and ceiling painting and decorations by German decorative and graphic artist (Decorationsmaler) Carl Lange. Most designs feature, floral, natural or geometric motifs, and a few contain figurative images. All designs are finely printed in duo-tone lithographs, in either lime green, blue-grey, or black, each with an identifying catalog number. Every page of sample designs includes Lange's copyright and sales notes. Also printed text pages by Lange, and advertisements for Lange's other designs and works including "Wandmalerei" ("mural paintings", p. 15). Laid in are a number of other ephemeral items including a period receipt for purchase of the book, and multiple loose printed publisher's advertisements and catalogs promoting similar works for use by painters, interior designers and decorators from the period.
Wrappers with a few small stains to the front cover. Interior with light age toning to pages, and some sporadic margin notes on the third page. Wrappers in very good, interior in very good- condition overall. vg- to vg. Item #55561
Quite a scarce publication. Not a single mention of this publication online, nor any holdings on OCLC. Similar publications from 1910s by Lange under the slight variant name "Illustriertes Malerbuch" are known.
