"This album is intended to do no more than reproduce the impressions of an artist who, for love of traveling, has spent much time in these lands in the expectant of such impressions. Held in this country for many years by an extraordinary chain of circumstances, he had ample opportunity of penetrating daily deeper into the beauties of nature of Central America, and to be influenced by their poetical aspects. Here and there he obtained glimpses of the fulness of life, and with his brush he enthusiastically endeavored to hold fast the beauty he was permitted ti experience... The life he portrays, whether of human beings, animals, or plants; the landscapes, even those depicting nature's most frightful catastrophes, the devastation of volcanic eruptions; whatever the subject, all that is picturesque in this country is for him a festival of light and color." (Vollmberg)
