Biographical and documentary notes on Ukrainian-born artist Chana Orloff (born 1888). She left Russia for Jaffa at the age of sixteen, and moved to Paris in 1910. A year later she entered the Ecole des Arts Decoratifs in Paris were she learned the elements of drawing and in 1912 took up sculpting. In 1913 she exhibited two busts at the Salon d'Automne. During the war her work appeared at Barbazanges, Bernheim Jeune and others. After the war she exhibited with The Independants, the Salon d'Automne, the Salon des Tuileries and several galleries. Illustrated profusely with b/w reproductions of her sculptures. Light wear along edges and spine. Some sunning along edges. Block very good. Good to very good condition. Item #55093
