Original brown cloth with gilt vignette and decorative blind-stamped framing on covers, vignette on back cover blind-stamped, and gilt lettering on spine. Cream endpapers. Emblem at top of list of plates at front. Beautiful collection of twenty-seven views depicting architectural highlight in the city of Rome, rendered in copper plate engravings. Includes views of the Vatican, the Church of St. John and St. Paul,the Villa Borghese. city walls, the Colosseum, the Ruins of the Palace of the Emperors, the Villa Medici, the Church of St. Peters, and others. Five of the pages with engravings smaller format. Binding with light wear along edges, including some light chipping to the spine. Starting at inteiror front gutter, but binding is holding failry tight. Medium foxing in margins of plates, not affecting images. Very good- condition. Item #54999
