Frontispiece etching by Max Liebermann, captioned tissue guard. The etching by Edvard Munch was revised for the second edition. This edition was printed at Imberg & Lefson in Berlin.

Magnificently illustrated with four additional full page original etchings by Edvard Munch (38), Hermann Struck (56), Anders Zorn (102), Paul Baum (118), and one original lithograph by Max Slevogt (222), all with captioned tissue guards, as well as numerous b/w offset reproductions of artwork by various artists. The etchings were printed on the Pan-Press. Includes biographical date of artists. Index, list of artwork, and table of contents at rear. Stamp of Walter Paetzel on front free endpaper.
