"The Survey of Western Palestine was commenced under Captain Stewart, R.E., in January, 1872. Ill-health obliged that officer to return almost immediately. Lieutenant Conder, R.E., was appointed to the command, and arrived in Palestine in the summer of the same year. The work meantime had been conducted under the charge of the late Mr. C.F. Binding with light wear along edges, lightly more pronounced at spines. Endpapers with light chipping. Previous owner's name inked to half-title of volume one. Some foxing of frontispiece and title page in volume one. Some pencil markings and underlining in both volumes. Plate of "The Place of Stoning" in volume one loose but present. Endpapers and last few pages of vol. one with light foxing. Volume two with light foxing of half-title and last few pages. Stamp of Dublin Library on last page.
