NP: Printed by Case-Hoyt Corporation, 1971. Second printing. Softcover. Large Octavo. Unpaginated. Original photo-illustrated white stiff wraps with black lettering on cover. and spine. Profusely illustrated with striking b/w photographs throughout. "What you call a ghetto, I call home." This was said to me when I first came to East Harlem, and during the two years that I photographed people of East 100th Street, it stayed with me. Home became an old man who grows grass between broken slabs of concrete in a tenement backyard, children behind windows covered by chicken wire, walls with pictures of Christ, Kennedy, and the American flag, and a retired maid in uniform scrubbing her own linoleum floor..." (Preface). Light wear along edges of wraps with chips at head and tail of spine. Some light foxing and staining on wraps. Covers detached from spine but present intact. Block lightly age-toned. Photographs fine. Good- to fine condition. Item #54304
