This book is an attempt to reconstruct the life of the Jews in Egypt and Palestine, and to produce a skeleton history of the Jews from 969 C.E. to 1204 C.E. from an extensive examination of Genizah MSS. Vol. I with a Hebrew inscription dated 1976 on the front free endpaper. Dust jacket spines slightly sunned, otherwise a near fine set.

This work "is perhaps one of the most frequently quoted books in Jewish scholarship." Shelomo D. Goiten. It was first published in 1920-22. Laid in at front of each volume is a xerox copy of Shelomo D. Goiten's Preface and Readers Guide and corrigenda from the first edition. Dustjacket sunned at spines, light smudging on jacket of first volume. Very good- to near fine condition. Item #54139
