Original green textured cloth with gilt and black lettering, gilt ruling on cover. Green endpapers. Double-framed preliminary and title page. Frontispiece photograph. Printed to heave Arches paper. Inscribed "Presented with the compliments of the author Stanley Charles Nott, April 1941." Contains list of patrons of "The House of Jade's" charity drive for the funds of The American Red Cross and The British War Relief during the 1940-1941 season in Palm Beach. Stanley Charles Nott was one of the world's leading authorities and dealers on Chinese jades in the 20th century.

Beautifully illustrated with forty-four full page b/w photographic reproductions of Chinese jade carvings. The descriptive text by Stanley Charles Nott with specification for each of the one hundred and sixty-two described Chinese Jade carvings, including height, width, diameter, color, and date. "To attain fundamental appreciation of the carvings in Jade evolved since the Han Dynasty, one requires to be equipped with at least an elementary knowledge of the various religions and esoteric lore which have dominated Chinese thought and life since that time. One must also be acquainted with the historical background of the period, the geography of the country from whence the treasures have been found as well as the various foreign influences which have helped to mould these heirlooms of a vast and intricately disintegrated race."
