William White (1873-1960) was a Canadian Church Minister in Fukien and later became the first Anglican Bishop of Honan, a post he held for 25 years. After being driven out of China by the civil wars, he returned to Toronto in 1935 where he became Professor of Chinese Studies at the University. During his time in China he was an inveterate (and controversial) collector of Chinese artifacts and antiquities for the Royal Ontario Museum and would later become the "Keeper of the Asiatic Collection."
