Edmond Lévy was an architect and professor of archaeology. In this study, in cooperation with the artist J.-B. Carponnier, Lévy introduces the history of glass painting considering religious, archaeological and artistic elements of the subject. Contains a general history of glass painting in part one, and a descriptive analysis of the glass painters in Belgium in part two of this work. Illustrated with thirty-seven plates rendered in lithography, including twenty-seven spectacular plates in chromolithography. The majority of the plates are folding plates. Contains a list of plates and an alphabetical index of glass painters.

Text in French. Binding with light wear, light scuffing at joints of spine and along edges. Plates twenty-three and thirty with creasing of edges near gutter, not affecting images. These in fine condition. Block with very light age-toning. Good+ to fine condition. Item #53669
