Extensive catalog of the Berliner Maschinenbau-Actien-Gesellschaft, formerly Schwartzkopff, introducing locomotives built during the years 1935 to 1938. This catalog is profusely illustrated with photogravures of the wide variety of locomotives, production facilities and technical drawings throughout. It includes a brief company history from its founding in 1852 to date and a special chapter on the exhibition "Germany" during the Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936. This section illustrates the locomotive as exhibited in Berlin at the Adolf-Hitler-Platz with photos of dignitaries, including Dr. Goebbels, and its laborious transport by means of the Culemeyer type transport vehicles. Two illustrated pages are dedicated to the German National Exhibition in Düsseldorf 1937 "Schaffendes Volk," featuring a Standard Fast Train Locomotive.
The catalog introduces a variety of locomotive types with technical data, including those for private railways as the the Lübeck-Büchen Railway, the Mecklenburgian Friedrich-Wilhelm Railway as well as railways abroad, e.g. China, India, Brazil, this with a folding plate in color gravure after an original of the painter Walter Zeeden, Berlin, and South Africa. The section of smaller and electric locomotives includes a section for Diesel locomotives, a double locomotive, and locomotives for mine service, including those order from Russia, France and Brazil. The last two pages are illustrated with gravures of Large- and High Pressure Compressors and Diesel- and Steam Road Rollers. Very light wear along edges of binding. Illstrated bookplate on inside front cover with unidentified manuscript dedication, dated Berlin 1938. Folding plate with small crease at top foredge of folded plate. Near fine condition. Item #53567
