1934 Gebrauchsgraphik issue commemorating Ludwig Hohlwein's sixtieth birthday. With a special section by H. K. Frenzel showing 31 samples of Hohlwein's art. Five of the samples are full-page reproductions of vibrant color posters on card stock. Includes Hohlwein's famous Olympic poster design, which was used for the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Remaining four posters on card stock are advertisements for the Original Alt Münchener Salvator Bier Abend, Chromolithogr. Kunstanstalt A. G. München, Muratti Ariston, and Springer & Möller Farbwerke Leipzig. Other smaller color and b/w reproductions show many National Socialist Propaganda posters by Hohlwein (includes one Hohlwein portrait).
Other sections profusely illustrated with b/w photographic reproductions. 1934 issue of the famous German graphic arts periodical with 31 images by one of the most important German poster artists. Text in German and English. Wraps with light wear and lightly rubbed. Inside covers with light laminar foxing with minor offsetting to facing pages. "Olympics" and "Germany The Rhine Calls You" inserts also with minor foxing. First four leaves with light bump at lower foredge corner. Very good condition. Item #53039
