"With the images and remarks in this volume I want to report about my own work as architect and building organizer during my years at the Bauhaus in Dessau. This work is a product of the atmosphere that originated in those years of organizing the Bauhaus and it was a thrust - with all necessary consequences of the fight - to accomplish the new technical and formal results... The City of Dessau delegated the leading role to me - planning, assignment and the construction management - and therefore all jobs converged in my office and could be integrated consistently. All of the designs and architectural plans originated in my private office; despite the fact that I am publishing this buildings under the name "Bauhaus Buildings." For the public saw in these buildings justly the fruit of constant intellectual exchange at the Bauhaus and masters and workshops had planned and executed essential parts of the facilities independently." The books is profusely illustrated with b/w photographs of exteriors and interiors of the buildings, their construction, architectural drawings and plans, including "Ufa" photos from the inauguration film of December 1926 and various filmstrips (Humboldt-Film) documenting apartments of Bauhaus masters. The photographers include Lucia Moholy, with the majority of photographs, Klaus Hertig, Lyonel Feininger, Fritz Wedekind, Lux Feininger, Erich Consemüller, Ise Gropius, and others. Contains list of 203 images at rear, yellow errata slips as issued, and publisher's advertisement of all 14 Bauhaus Books at rear. Text in German.
