Elmer Boyd Smith (1860-1943) was a popular American illustrator of children's books. Alice Berend (1875-1938) was a successful German-Jewish author of historical novels on Berlin. In this edition the tells Smith's story of the Ark in German. She was the sister of the painter Charlotte Berend-Corinth.
