Textured cream endpapers. Frontispiece contains four portrait photographs rendered in photogravures. Publisher's device on title page. Decorative headers on each page. Illustrated with hundreds of images after original photographs and thirty-two plates, partially after original paintings and drawings by Erich Mattschaß, one by Hans Schubert, various statistics and an appendix with eleven maps. Fifteen of the plates are rendered in gravure after original photographs and artwork, the others offset reproductions.

A comprehensive documentation of the wars in Africa, New Guinea and Qingdao, including an elaborate chapter on the Commander of the Protection Force in German Africa, Lieutenant-Colonel Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck, also called The Lion of Africa, the Navy and Air force wars as well as an extensive chapter with reports from the Secret Service. The publication is complementing the previously published work "Fighters in the World War" published in 1930.

Contains list of plates at front. Text in German, Gothic script. Minor wear along edges of binding. Light foxing of endpapers in margins and on versos of lithographs, three of them with foxing in image. Very good to near fine condition. Item #51567
