This is the first Russian translation of the Yiddish memoir originally published the previous year as "Fun Minsker Geto" (From the Minsk Ghetto) by Jewish Polish-Soviet writer Hersh Smolar (1905-1993). The book describes the author experiences as an underground resistance leader in the Minsk ghetto and the Soviet partisans in the Belorussian forests during WWII and the Holocaust. The acclaimed work tells the authors powerful personal story and was for many decades the only Russian-language account of Jewish anti-Nazi resistance during WWII to be published in the Soviet Union. The text is accompanied by some b/w photographic reproductions showing figures from the book.

Wrappers sunned, with a small stain on the front cover. Some creasing and light rubbing to extremities, with some chipping to corners, including the head and tail of the spine. Interior with sunning to the edges of pages throughout. A few sporadic light stains throughout. P.34 with some marking in blue pen in the margins. Book block tight.
