Washington DC: Printed by and for the Editor, 1827. First edition. Hardcover. Small 8vo. viii,358,(2). Plus the 8pp. Supplement to Volume 1. "To Follow the New York Debates [containing] Mr. Tredwell's Remarks." After the author's opening prefatory remarks (v-viii) are two indices: the first is of the various speakers names; the second is "The Topics of Debate" arranged alphabetically. This is followed by a printing of The Constitution of the United States of America (browned from poor paper quality, but easily readable). The whole work rebound in early 20th century brown buckram with brown and black calf spine labels. The spine label; reads, "Elliot's Debates on the Fed. Const. 1787-1836." Title page lightly browned & water spotted. Text with a few browned & foxed gatherings (a result of the inconsistent paper quality). One leaf, p.289-290, with worming near the fore-margin affecting many single letters but not the overall readability of the text. g to vg. Item #49578
