Philosophia peripatetica juxta mentem Doctoris Angelici [UNIQUE]

[Aix-en-Provence?]: 1737. Small quarto (22 by 16 cm). Dated manuscript on paper, ca. 20 lines per page. [8], 90, 92-391, [2]pp. With 2 half-page diagrams in manuscript and a full-page engraving of the Arbor Porphyriana. Contemporary calf, gilt-tooled spine with raised bands and morocco lettering piece; edges stained red; marbled endpapers, silk ribbon marker. A few incidental smudges. A fine manuscript penned in a neat cursive hand.

Eighteenth-century Manuscript of a course on Aristotelian philosophy, viewed through the lens of Thomas Aquinas. The two half-page manuscript diagrams which appear on pp. 101 and 104 deal with logical relations. The full-page plate of the Porphyrian Tree engraved by Coelémans (place des Prescheurs à Aix) suggests a tentative location of the course at the University of Aix-en-Provence. The writer describes himself as Antipolensis, likely referring to Antibes (the ancient Antipolis), near Nice. Item #49215
