First edition of the chronology of the Ptolemaic rulers of Egypt, installed by Alexander the Great, until the Death of Cleopatra. It was written by the elder brother of Jean Francois Champollion, decryptor of the Rosetta Stone, after his premature death. Illustrated with two plates depicting coins during the Ptolemaic era, and one plate offering a general view of the reign of the Lagids. Volume two contains an extended chronological canon of the history of the Lagids. Text in French. Wraps with some wear along edges, small chips and some sunning and light staining. Block uncut at bottom and foredge with signatures unopened at top. Very good condition. Item #48731
