Vol.4: [2] 327- 600pp. [2]. Modern half brown pebbled leather over light brown textured boards, with gilt tooling and ruling on the covers. Gilt ruling and lettering on the spines. Decorative endpapers. Marbled edges of book blocks. This limited edition is a complete facsimile reproduction of the manuscript known as Leiden Or. 4720 (aka the Leiden Talmud), the only known complete surviving manuscript copy of the Jerusalem Talmud. The manuscript was written in the year 1289 by Yehiel ben Yekuthiel ben Benjamin ha-Rofe of Rome, who corrected source errors in the text during the process of his copying. His manuscript is the source of all subsequent printed editions of the Jerusalem Talmud, starting with the famous Bomberg edition of 1523-1524. The first volume contains intorductory in English and Hebrew.

Bindings with a few instances of rubbing or minor abrasions along some edges. Volumes 2-3 with light bowing to the boards. Top of the frotn cover of vol.4 bumped. Interiors covers and title pages of the volumes with the ink stamp of the previous owner. Bindings in very good- to near fine, interiors in near fine condition overall. vg- to near fine. Item #48699
