Report on the hawks and owls of the United States with special reference to the economic status of the various species. Critical examination of hawks and owls by scientific experts, stating that though commonly looked upon as enemies of the farmer, they really rank among his best friends, and with few exceptions should be preserved. For this purpose the actual contents of about 2,700 stomachs of these birds were examined proving that only six of the seventy-three species in the United States are actually "injurious." The report is illustrated with twenty-six plates of hawks and owls rendered in chromolithography. Binding with light wear along edges, small chips and light scuffing.
