Original string-bound tan cloth portfolio with black lettering on cover. Collections of sculptures by Belgian artists covering the last twenty years of the 19th century, representing works that they believed best met their ideas towards a new ideal of beauty. The publication was meant to be the start of a series.

The artists included in in this portfolio are Henri Boncquet, Pierre Braecke, Guillaume Charlier, Godefroid Devreese, (Julien) Dillens, Paul du Bois, Guillaume de Groot, Fernand Khnopff, Jules Lagae, Jeff Lambeau, Constantin Meunier, Léon Mignon, George Minne, Victor Rousseau, (Isidore) De Rudder, Samuel Charles, Charles van der Stappen, Paul de Vigne and Thomas Vincotte. The book is illustrated with sixty-six b/w in-text reproductions of photographs of sculptures and sixty plates with reproductions of the artists' works in photogravure with captions.

Text in French. Portfolio with some wear, small closed tears at head and tail of spine, front cover with half an inch sunned strip along top and foredge, some water staining. Back cover with staining. Text pages with very light ear along edges, some age-toning of photogravure plates in margins, not affecting images. Photogravures in fine condition. fair+ to fine.
