Collections of sculptures by Belgian artists covering the last twenty years of the 19th century, representing works that they believed best met their ideas towards a new ideal of beauty. The publication was meant to be the start of a series.
The artists included in in this portfolio are Henri Boncquet, Pierre Braecke, Guillaume Charlier, Godefroid Devreese, (Julien) Dillens, Paul du Bois, Guillaume de Groot, Fernand Khnopff, Jules Lagae, Jeff Lambeau, Constantin Meunier, Léon Mignon, George Minne, Victor Rousseau, (Isidore) De Rudder, Samuel Charles, Charles van der Stappen, Paul de Vigne and Thomas Vincotte. The book is illustrated with sixty-six b/w in-text reproductions of photographs of sculptures and sixty plates with reproductions of the artists' works in photogravure with captions.
