Baumanns Neue Farbtonkarte System Prase Block V (Baumann's New Color Tone Card System Prase Block V)

Aue, Saxony: Verlag Paul Baumann, ca. 1922. First edition. Softcover. Oblong Sextodecimo. 2, title page with printed verso, 1p. Instructions, 6pp. of mixing table, unpaginated. Original glossy brown stiff wraps with black lettering on cover, fastened with original black cloth tape at spine and housed in original light brown cardboard slipcase. The color tone chips are arranged in three separate blocks (flip books) of stapled color chips, cut horizontally with numbers and mixing details printed to versos. The block at the top is one and three eighths inches, the middle block one and a half inch, the bottom block two and three quarter inches tall. This enables the user to flip through the colors to find good matches in the other two blocks. This three-part collection of 1325 color tones, including gold and silver tones printed to foil while the other colors are silkscreened, provides a quick and convenient way to check 18,000 color compositions and their harmonious effect. The instruction page explains the codes for the application printed to the verso of each chip. The letters indicate the usability of each color, e.g. O stands for usable with oil paint, K for chalk paint, Z for cement, F for facades. The numbers one through four indicate the light resistance, e.g., 1 indicates high light resistance, 4 not light resistant. Cover with printed word blocked out with black marker and some light damage to black cloth tape on spine. Text pages somewhat age-toned. Else in near fine condition. vg to near fine. Item #47862
