Printed to heavy handmade paper with bottom and foredge uncut. The printing components have been procured by Johannes Hoops based on the first complete edition of 1625. The woodcut initials and titles are by Anna Simons. 250 of the edition of 270 are for the trade. Laid in double page prospectus for the Bacon essays, printed on heavy handmade paper. The 1625 publication of Bacon's essays were the first published book by the philosopher, statesman and jurist. Stamped Bremer Binderei at bottom of inside back cover. Binding with light wear along edges. Endpapers and prospectus lightly foxed, block with minor sporadic foxing. Very good+ condition. Item #47738
