This publication compiles letters, correspondence, notes and various other miscellaneous writing from pioneering Soviet-Russian theater actor and director Yevgeny Vakhtangov (1883-1922). The book, which was compiled and edited by Vakhtangov's wife Nina, and others, was published as a companion volume of sorts to the artistic biography of Vakhtangov published the same year (from the same publisher), written by Soviet theater scholar Nikolai Georgievich Zograf. This book is illustrated throughout with b/w photographic reproductions, showing locations, designs, people and productions from Vakhtangov's life and career. Additionally there are a number of folding plates throughout, which contain color facsimile reproductions of the his actual manuscript notes. Extensive index of names, and a table of contents of the illustrations at the back of the book.

Binding with some rubbing to extremities and some light sunning. Interior gutters reinforced. Sporadic minor to light staining to some pages throughout, as well as some creased corners of pages.
