Original three-quarter calf over marbled boards, with gilt lettering and ruling on black leather label of spine; raised bands. Marbled edges. Gray endpapers. Frontispieces. Horticultural magazine published from 1833 to 1856 by Joseph Harrison, Sheffield. After Harrison's death in 1856 his son continued the publication, renamed it and turned into a weekly magazine. The magazine featured horticultural instructions and guidance and was illustrated with hand-colored engravings and in-text illustrations, renowned for the high quality color plates. This group includes volumes one through three, and volumes five and seven. Bindings with wear along edges, scuffed spines, missing completely at volume VII, front cover loose but present here. Volumes II, III, and V. with closed tears and chips at spine, compartments between raised bands partially missing. Marbled boards rubbed. Some foxing of blocks, these age-toned in first few months of volume I. Bindings in overall poor to good minus, interiors in good to very good, plates in very good condition. poor to vg. Item #47112
