Fully illustrated title, followed by the printed title in red and black, with engraving. Decorative headpieces and initials. Second volume with half-title.

Suiceri (Schweizer) was a Protestant Swiss philologist and theologian. His masterpiece Thesaurus Ecclesiasticus, a dictionary of the language of the Greek Church Fathers, had a lasting influence. Born in 1619 (or 1620) Suiceri was ordained as a priest in several European regions and published several books on Greek grammar, syntax and sacred archeology. Text in Latin. Inked 1830 note of previous owner on front blank, inked name, Robert Jenney, on printed half title of both volumes. Some reinforcements at gutter of various pages, not affecting text. Some foxing in margins and browned in text columns in large parts of the volumes. Binding in overall very good, interior in good+ condition. g+ to vg. Item #46956
