Illustrated with 70 leaves of plates, this two-volume set contains the descriptions of 500 of the several thousand Arabic manuscripts in the possession of Mr. Alfred Chester Beatty (1875-1968), an American mining magnate, philanthropist and one of the most successful businessmen of his generation. He was also a collector of African, Asian, European and Middle Eastern manuscripts, rare printed books, prints and objets d'art.

Spine and edges of first volume sunned. Ex-library copy, with sticker at upper front joints and tail of spines; bookplate on inside of each front cover, printed notice at rear, and stamp at top and bottom paper edges.
