"We have at present no geographical name, in general use, for the vast region of Asia which lies between British India and the Chinese territory. comprehending the Birmah empire, the kingdom of Siam and Anam (or Cochin China), and the peninsula of Malacca. The appellation of Ultra Gangetic India is far from being appropriate, since the Ganges forms no part of its western boundary. It has sometimes been denominated the Ultra Gangetic Peninsula, in contradistinction from what is improperly called the Peninsula of India..." (Conder). Minor wear along edges. Near fine condition.
