Bilderschatz des Möbel- und Bauschreiners

Stuttgart: Greiner & Pfeiffer, ca. 1928. First edition. Hardcover. Folio. 156pp. Bound in three-quarter brown cloth over green paper-covered boards. Gray endpapers. Fifty-two supplements of the illustrated journal "Der Süddeutsche Möbel- und Bauschreiner," the professional periodical for the furniture and joinery trade. Published on four pages each for the first thirteen issues with sepia-toned reproductions of photographs depicting single furniture, including drawings, furnished rooms, entrance halls, etc., it contains eight pages for the remaining thirty-nine issues. Considering that some of the images of the earlier supplements are captioned "Business premises in the new Mittnachtbau in Stuttgart," it is likely that these images were taken soon after the completion of this building by the architects Ludwig Eisenohr and Oscar Pfenning in 1928.

The journal was popular in the professional world due to contributions of distinguished craftsmen, draftsmen, architects, etc. Next to its easy to understand professional articles it contained practical instructions relating to the craft as well as business advice. Includes photographs of a salesroom in the Mittnachtbau, designed by the above mentioned architects, as well as the furniture company Bothe & Ehrmann, Hermann Rexhausen, a German furniture manufacturer, the architects Fritz Rosenbaum, Paul Lázló, Otto Firle, Eckart Muthesius, Norbert Troller, among many others. Text in German. Binding with light wear along edges and cover lightly sunned. Very good condition. Item #46358
