Astoria Lichtspiele [ORIGINAL GOUACHE AND MAQUETTE FOR THE NEON SIGNS OF A GERMAN MOVIE THEATER IN THE 1920s]

NP: NP, ca 1920s. Original artwork. Loose leaf. A collection of two original architectural renderings pertaining to the conception of neon signs at a German movie theater in the 1920s or early 1930s.

The pieces are a 10 x 7" gouache on cardboard, with the following caption in pencil: Leüchtfahne, geschen von der Seite Fleischermitr. Fischer (Neon sign, seen from the Fleischermitr.-Fischer side). The gouache depicts a multi-colored neon sign bearing the name of the cinema (Astoria).

The second piece is a partly colored architectural drawing on a 14 x 12" transparent. The drawing in pencil depicts the facade of the Astoria movie theatre adorned with three neon signs hand-painted. The unknown architect wrote down in pencil the various dimensions, three captions, as well as the name of the street from which the view is from (Marktseite).

Minor and sporadic foxing. Both documents are in overall very good condition. vg. Item #45677
