Vinter-Olympia 1936: De Fjärde Olympiska Vinterspelen I Garmisch-Partenkirchen

Stockholm: Åhlén & Åkerlunds förlag, 1936. First edition. Hardcover. Large quarto. 11.5 x 8.5". 64pp. White cloth over photo-illustrated paper boards with red lettering on the front cover. This is a Swedish monograph on the 1936 Winter Olympics held in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. The book is profusely illustrated throughout with b/w photogravure images (including some photomontage) of the games, including images of the medalists, ceremonies, and dramatic action shots of the events. Although there is somewhat of an understandable focus on the Swedish Olympic team, we see images of all the international athletes from various countries. The publication is organized primarily by event and sport, including skiing (cross-country, alpine, and ski jumping), ice hockey, figure skating, speed skating and bobsledding. Due to the fact that the games held during the Third Reich era, there is also a picture of Nazi-leadership in attendance, with an image of Hitler and Goebbels signing autographs. Members the foreign press are depicted including the Japanese. Also including are maps and charts of medals won, event statistics and records.
