Presciano, Amministrazione del 1792 e 1793 e 1794 [ORIGINAL 18TH-CENTURY ITALIAN MANUSCRIPT ON FOOD AND TEXTILE PRODUCTION]

Presciano, Italy: NP, 1793. Manuscript. Hardcover. Folio (12 1/4 x 8 3/4"). [2], 178 written pages. Original full soft vellum, with handwritten lettering to front cover. String ties.

Unique 18th-century manuscript being a ledger of the village of Presciano, province of Arezzo, for the years 1791 to 1793.

Carefully and elegantly written on hand-made rag paper by an unknown administration official of this little Italian town, this manuscript documents the quantity of various goods produced in Presciano during the years 1792, 1793, and 1794.

Among the 26 various goods stated in the ledger are grains, wine, lupini beans, fodder, grass peas, fruits, hens and eggs, pigeons, walnuts, almonds, cheese, oil, chickory, rye, linen, wool, straw, etc..

The ledger also indicates the amount of money generated by the sale of each good.

This manuscript is a living testimony of how a late 18th-century Italian village lived of the goods produced by its inhabitants.

Binding partly age-toned. Minor and sporadic foxing throughout. Text in Italian. Binding in overall good to good+, interior in very good condition. g to vg. Item #45508
