Dawn Moon and Tumbling Snow (Kobayashi Heihachiro)
ca. 1889. Color woodblock print, (Oban tate-e format). 12 3/4 x 9" in wooden frame, with white mat. #79 from the series "100 Aspects of the Moon." This dramatic woodblock image depicts the Ronin Kobayashi Heihachiro in a famous scene taken from the famous Kabuki play "Kanadehon Chushingura" (aka 47 Ronin). The print has been trimmed slightly along the right margin, as well as very slightly at the bottom and top. Only very slight loss of image on the right side, when compared to an untrimmed copy. The print is also very slightly sunned. Item #44874
