This is a pocket-size illustrated English-language version of the French fairy tale "Riquet With the Tuft", the first known version of which was published by Charles Perrault in 1697 as part of his "Histoires ou contes du temps passé" collection. This edition is illustrated throughout with charming small woodcut scenes from the story. This book seems to have been part of the publishers "Twopenny books" pocket-size series, as advertised on the back cover. Original booksellers embossed book stamp, "Lindmark's Book Shop Poughkeepsie, NY" along the bottom of the back cover. Wrappers with light wear to extremities, and some light smudges to the covers. Wrappers in very good, interior in near fine condition overall. Extremely scarce. vg to near fine. Item #44059
