This monograph of German photographer Rudolf Müller-Schönhausen (1893-1968) contains 27 b/w photographic reproductions, including the following portraits of some of Hitler's "old guard" fighters:

Georg Seidenschwang; Ulrich Graf; Luitpold Braun; Jakob Grimminger; Adolf Eberhart; Hanns Bunge; Hans Haug; Benedikt Dietenhauser; Walter Buhné; Hanns Gierbauer; Emil Petzendorfer; Karl Keßler; Lorenz Steimer; Franz Lenz; Kurt Rathard Datz; Franz Moos; Philipp Jungwirth; Friedrich Holzinger; Hermann Mayr; Johann Singer; Hanns Kuttner; Ludwig Fuchs; Johann Frey, and Rudolf Fruhtrunk.

The other three photographs depict:

- The Feldherrnhall, a monumental loggia on the Odeonsplatz in Munich. Modeled after the Loggia dei Lanzi in Florence, it was commissioned in 1841 by King Ludwig I of Bavaria to honor the tradition of his army. In 1923 it was the site of the brief battle that ended Hitler's Beer Hall Putsch. During the Nazi era it served as a monument commemorating the death of 16 members of the Nazi party.

- The Mahnmal der Bewegung: a prominent monument erected on the Feldherrnhall's eastern side, where the events of 1923 took place. The monument was designed by Paul Ludwig Troost (Hitler's first architect).

- Emil Petzendorfer with a young boy on his lap, and the following printed caption: "Euer Geist lebt in der Jugend weiter" (our spirit lives in the future of our youth).

It is interesting to note that Rudolf Müller-Schönhausen's portraiture style is clearly influenced by Helmar Lerski in its use of lighting to create sharp contrast and light and shade effects.

Some age-toning and minor and sporadic chipping and foxing along edges of glassine. Text in German. Glassine in overall good, wrappers and interior in very good condition. g to vg. Item #43614
