Silver mirrored cardboard portfolio with white lettering on the front cover and spine, and three cosmetics containers (lipstick, eye shadow and mascara) mounted onto front cover. Velcro fastener. The portfolio houses 33 double-sided loose leaf inserts, each measuring 11.5x9", featuring b/w and color photographic reproductions as well as other illustrations on the subject of "Beauty" in various forms, with contributions from many acclaimed artists and photographers. Many of the inserts are muti-page and folded, including an amazing series of three photographs of Cecilia Dean, as three different races, with astounding makeup and hair styling by James Kaliardos. Contributors include Bruce Weber, Cindy Sherman, Ellen von Unwerth, Nan Goldin, Jean-Paul Goude, Inez Van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin, Mario Testino, Mary Ellen Mark, Mats Gustafson, Peter Lindbergh, Ruben Toledo and Terry Richardson. Laid in at the interior is an envelope on Visionaire stationary, containing two folded lists of back issues to order.
Portfolio with some light soiling at the bottom of the front covers as well as some light scratches and some light rubbing, bumping and creasing to extremities. Interior with the initial leaf (thick rice paper) with some light smudges and creasing. Portfolio in very good-, interior in near fine condition overall. Item #43542

In fact, contrary to what one might think, it was our idea to feature their products prominently on the cover, not theirs. More visions of beauty were played out in the pages of the issue: Contributors included makeup artists and hairstylists, such as Serge Lutens, Kevyn Aucoin, François Nars, Dick Page, Topolino, Danilo, and our very own James Kaliardos, who transformed Cecilia Dean into three different races." - The Publisher.
