A tribute to the more than 10,000 young soldiers who lost their lives in the First Battle of Ypres in 1914, following the first German gas attack in Langemarck, Belgium. The self--sacrifice brought about the popular and enduring "myth of Langemarck." Profusely illustrated with sepia-toned photographs of the area, the cemeteries and memorial sites featuring various letters sent by the fallen soldiers as well as anonymous poetic contributions.
