Rebacked with tan cloth retaining the original calf boards with gilt lettering on spine. Frontispiece set of Smith of Bramham and cognate families of Smith Coat of Arms. Dedication page to the Earl of Derby. Illustrated with additional 8 plates with albumen prints pasted to heavy stock paper, including the Bramham Church, the New Testament title page of Smith Family Bible, facsimile signatures, arms of maternal ancestors of Burlington Smith, the house of Daniel Smith of Bramham, Otsego Hall (formerly Smith Hall), family Tea-Service, Stenton, and one sepia toned photograph of the Tomb of Sir William Smith.

Contains 40 genealogical tables, an index of persons mentioned in the volume and a facsimile of a seven page handwritten letter dated June 16th, 1848, by Horace J. Smith addressing his father John Day Smith on his 80th birthday in a "commemorative paper... to review briefly some of the wondrous events of thy Era." (Horace J. Smith). The copy of the letter was requested by Horace's wife Margaret. There are a number of handwritten additions of dates in handwriting in the genealogical tables xvii, xviii, xix, and a small printed label with corrections pasted to table xviii.

In addition an octavo size pamphlet is laid in containing a lithograph of the "Arms of Charles Lloyd of Dolobran," Montgomery County, impaled with those of his wife Elizabeth, daughter of Thomas Stanley, on page 2 with additional printed note of the "Chygoe's Island" of Samuel Smith on opposite page and six genealogical lists received too late for binding. Some wear along edges of binding with loss of leather and rubbed. Starting at inside front cover with front free endpaper, frontispiece, title and dedication page separated from block but present. Title page with app. 4 x 4" chip at right lower corner with loss of the word Author and the period after St. Acknowledgment through page 8 barely attached to block. Starting at page 295 and inside back cover. Block and albumen prints slightly age toned. Binding and interior in overall fair to good+ condition. fair to g+. Item #43024
