The work is a scarce and interesting collection of civil war songs. Some of the songs were written by Lozier, and some by other soldiers or officers. Illustrated throughout with quaint and often humorous b/w illustrations relating to the songs. Wrappers with some light chipping and sunning to corners and along edges. Interior with a small damp stain to the top right corner of a few pages. Binding in good, interior in very good condition overall. g to vg. Item #42953
*John Hogarth Lozier (1830-1907) was pastor at the Methodist Episcopal church of Sioux City, Iowa, and Asbury Methodist Episcopal Church, Indianapolis, Indiana; and chaplain of the 37th Indiana Infantry Regiment (1861-64) during the civil war.
