The decree regarding the "Regulation of Food Supply for the Jews" was enacted on May 1, 1944. It determines the rationing of various commodities for the Jews, e.g. 300 g sugar per month, instead of butter 300 g of sunflower oil per month, 100 g beef or horse meet per week, a maximum of 0.7 liter of milk for pregnant mothers and children under the age of three, while ceasing their food coupon supplies at the same time. The decree includes guidelines to get exemptions the general rules.

Ákos Farkas was the Mayor of Budapest during the most difficult time for its Jewry. Farkas decreed numerous anti-Semitic edicts and was active in the ghettoization of the Jews in Budapest starting in the month of November 1944. When the Red Army approached Budapest, Farkas fled to Germany in late December of 1944. There he was captured by US troops and extradited as a war criminal to Hungary in 1946. Farkas was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment. He died in prison in 1955. Text in Hungarian. Slightly age toned. Minor wear along edges. Overall in fine condition. Fine. Item #41661
