Illustrated with 31 b/w photographic pages and exploring a career of some fifty-odd years, "Roses and Buckshot" is a captivating autobiography blending "roses" (accolades) and "buckshot" (criticism) of the many elite authors, artists and actors with whom American artist and illustrator James Montgomery Flagg became acquainted with.

Best remembered for his political posters (particularly the iconic 1917 Uncle Sam poster: "I Want You for U.S. Army"), Flagg delivers here a wonderfully intimate look into his artistic life and the many famous names who touched it.
