Mounted on front free endpaper of Vol. I an authographed letter by Richard Monckton Milnes to MP William Henry Leatham, a British banker, poet and liberal politician. The letter reads: "Taymouth. - Sep. 25. Dear Mr. Leatham, I hope nothing will prevent me from visiting you & Mrs Leatham on the 18th of Oct. If, by any chance, Mrs Leatham is not well enough to receive, you will, of course, let me know. It is my interest to be back at (here two words couldn't be deciphered) the 15th. I remain, .. .. Richard M. Milnes."

First edition of Milnes' two volumes of verse, "Poems of Many Years" (Vol. I) and "Memorials of a Residence upon the Continent" (Vol. II).

"Poems of Many Years" is a collection of poems containing simple ballads, lyrics and didactic verse.

"Memorials of a Residence on the Continent" is a collection of poems written by the poet during his travels on the Continent.
