Die Ostjudenfrage: Zionismus & Grenzschluss

München: J. F. Lehmanns Verlag, 1915. Later printing (4.-6. Tausend). Softcover. Quarto. 48pp. Original printed wrappers. With this essay published in 1915, Georg Fritz lead a campaign against East European Jews which intensified the anti-Semitic atmosphere in Germany, and increased feelings of antipathy in many German soldiers waging war on the East front. The Eastern Jewish question and the "Jewish statistics" mentioned in this book, turned the attention of broad sections of the population to German Jewry in extraordinary fashion, and raised the problem created by the existence of a minority of a different faith among a people already marked by the privations and sacrifices of an unexpectedly long war. In addition, the tense economic situation led to sharp anti-Jewish attacks on the German war economy and wartime society. Wrappers sunned and slightly chipped along edges. Upper corners bumped, thus slightly affecting pages throughout. Folding mark at center. Text in German, gothic script. Wrappers in overall fair, interior in good to good+ condition. fair to g.
