The 21st Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union took place in Moscow, USSR, from January 27 to February 5, 1959. It was a mid-term or "Extraordinary" Congress, timed so that Khrushchev could try to consolidate his power over rivals after the attempted coup of the so-called "Anti-Party Group" in 1957. Khrushchev delivered a report on the plan of development of the national economy of the USSR in the 1959 - 1965 years. Consequently, the Seven-Year Plan of economic development was soon after adopted. This work contains in 34 illustrated and colorful charts the specific targets assigned for each sector of the economy (iron metallurgy, chemical industry, petroleum and gas industry, coal industry, electrification, engineering, food industry, cereal cultivation, etc..).
