Mörder-Knute über Kinder

Berlin: Mopr Verlag, 1927. First edition. Softcover. Octavo. 22 (2)pp. Original illustrated white wraps with red and green lettering on cover, protected in modern mylar. An account of Hungarian living conditions after W.W.I and the Peace Treaty of Trianon in 1918 which sealed Hungary's secession from the Austrian-Hungarian Empire. One of the conditions of the treaty was that Hungary was to maintain a paid military of not more than 35,000 soldiers. Hungarians circumvented this treaty with the so-called "Lewente-Law" which devised that every young man was obligated to become a Lewente (young knight) and attend sport and military exercises until he was 21 years of age. The first part of the pamphlet describes life and times of these Lewentes. The second part of the pamphlet is a narrative depicting the exploitation of children in agriculture and the third the haggling over the sale of children at the children's market. Illustrated with five full page drawings. Text in German, fracture. Wrappers with very light wear along edges. Book block lightly age toned. Wrappers and interior in overall good+ to very good condition. g+ to vg. Item #37595
