A collection of songs for children whose title can be translated as "The Open Moon." Includes whimsical illustrations of songs' subject matter such as children, toys and animals. Ella Amitan-Wilensky was an Estonian-Israeli poet and author of children's books. She also translated numerous works of classical literature into Hebrew including works by Johann Goethe, Honoré Balzac, Heinrich Heine and Victor Hugo. She was honored by the Greek government for her translation of the "Myths of the Ellada." Ultimately Amitan-Wilensky was an important pioneer in the revival of Hebrew as a modern language with its own literature. "The Open Moon" stands as one of the first Hebrew books ever written for children. The work was reprinted in 1949 and in 1967 with a different cover. Text in Hebrew. Some wear and staining to cover.
