Next to the Monatsschrift für Geschichte und Wissenschaft des Judentums (Monthly for History and Scientific Study of Judaism) the Jahrbuch was the most important platform on the subject. Founded in 1902 the society promoted strictly scientific efforts suitable to deepen the awareness of traditional Judaism. The Jahrbuch informed about modern historical and philosophical investigations of traditional Jewish texts, religion and culture. Published were scientific articles based on primary sources but also popular articles on various themes, particularly on the history and philosophy of the Jewish religion. Contributors included Dr. D. Hoffmann, Dr. Salomon Bamberger, Prof. Alexander Marx, Dr. Isaac Breuer, Franz Rosenzweig, E. E. Hildesheimer, Dr. A. Berliner, to name a few.
